Richard Budd

Richard Budd joined CBSM in 2023, teaching Year D. In over twenty years of ministry, Richard has taught in Catholic Schools, directed parish faith formation programs, worked in college campus ministry, high school ministry, RCIA, and more. He currently serves as the Director of Marriage and Family Life Ministry for the Diocese of Lansing.

He has been married to his wife Maureen for eight years and lives with her and their five children in Lansing, attending Church of the Resurrection parish. Richard enjoys reading, trying to learn the guitar and watching the Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines with his sons.

After being instituted as a lector while in seminary, Richard’s love for scripture and his sense of a responsibility to teach scripture grew. When asked to give his favorite scripture verse, he can’t decide between John 6:68 “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life.” and Philippians 2: 5-11 “Have this mind among yourselves which was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Fun Fact: He has received communion in the Tomb of Christ and prayed the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary at the Foot of the Cross
